“The Role of Sciences in the Green Development”

The 15th AASSA Regional Workshop on "The Role of Sciences in the Green Development" was held at the "Zuvshiltsul" Conference Room of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar, from September 7th to September 8th, 2016. The workshop was organized by the Mongolian Academy of Sciences (MAS) and the Association of Academies and Societies of Sciences in Asia (AASSA), jointly with assistance of Ministry of Environment and Tourism, Mongolia.  

The aim of this workshop was to discuss the issues related the Role of Sciences in the Green Development and share the best experiences and some challenges in Green Development Sciences and Studies. Also there was consolidated recommendations and chart future directions of the efforts by Scholars and Researchers on the Green Development Studies. 

The speakers of workshop raised the suggestions to search for ways and means to promote the green development studies, using multidisciplinary / interdisciplinary approach in Sciences and others. 

Eleven lectures were presented by participants, of which seven were by international speakers and four were from Mongolia. 8 international participants were from four countries, as from Nepal, Russia, Turkey, Islamic Republic of Iran and Republic of Korea.  Two professors from China and Bangladesh could not attend the workshop with personal reasons, but they provided their abstracts to the MAS Regional Workshop Committee.  Two representatives from Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia attended the regional workshop.  

The workshop summarized the present position and identified the on-going problems of Green Development in Science and Technology, and agreed on recommendations to improve their situation. 

The workshop comprised morning and afternoon sessions on September 7th, and the morning and wrap-up sessions on September 8th, 2016.  

The sessions of regional workshop on 7-8 September 2016 listened and discussed total 11 research presentations of International and Mongolian Scholars and Researchers.
